We went to the top of a mountain to find this beautiful scenery, and it was well worth it. I love the sun kissed background and the lush green of the mountain. The Cornwell family walked up the road a little playing and a little posing for pictures. They even found wild strawberries to eat, and wild flowers to pick. I think it was little girl heaven.

Family time is the best time. Getting together at the cabin is one of this family’s favorite things to do. Being together down by the creek fills the days and camp fires and s’more roasts fill the evenings. The cell phones get turned off and time almost stands still out at the cabin. It’s why they go back again and again.

The stars of the show for this day were 3 little girls. The setting, McEuen Park, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and the moment a family getting together, and we were off. We started right where we stepped into the park. Three cousins excited to see each other, were ready to hug and twirl and run and laugh, and the rest of us just had to keep up with the moment.
I loved their smiles and delight as they played together. There were some funny face moments too. In my opinion it’s boring to always have to smile, and boring just isn’t that much fun. My favorite is when everyone sticks their tongues out, it leads to some pretty good laughs.
Next we walked to a big field and out came the kites. The kites were a great idea by mom, with the help of their parents each girl set up their new kite. Then began the running, the twirling, the shouting, the laughing and even a couple of tears. Yes tears, because this is life style after all, and sometimes in life the kite just doesn’t quite do what you want it to.
I loved watching this family have fun together. The grown-ups running to help untangle a kite, giving out hugs where they were needed, and enjoying the moment with the girls. My favorite was the race. I love having a race in my sessions. I have to say though, that Grandma surprised me here and was one of the fastest and most competitive. It makes my heart happy to see everyone have fun even Grandma.
When we finished the session the girls ran off to play on the toys, then they were off to have lunch all together. The session may end, but the moment carries on.
I’m thankful to know these happy hearts and to have had the opportunity to do this session.

The Tracy’s, or as they fondly call themselves “The Tracy Tribe,” met me for a family session at Finch Arboretum. A gorgeous park in Spokane Washington. I think when we first started everyone was a bit worried about the session, especially mom. Six kids can be a handful when you are trying to get them to all pose. I remember the old days of sitting in the studio waiting in line while my own little ones began to fall apart at the seams. By the time we started the pictures smiles were hard to get. As photography changes and styles change I’m thankful for the new trend of life style photography. Kids are happy and show their most natural real smiles when they are playing and free to run. I love catching these moments. “How about you guys race to the tree while I take pictures to see who was the fastest.” It’s so fun to complete an entire session without the kids really ever realizing it was a session.
I have to say for this day the huge old tree was the hero of the day. Everyone loved it. Who can resist climbing such an amazing tree. I can’t even imagine how many children have been in that tree over the hundreds of years it has been alive. If it could tell stories I would be sure to sit and listen.
On this day they ran, they played, they hugged and I snapped away. The kids each got to pick their own place to pose as well as the way they wanted to pose. It was a fun way to get to know each one a little better. At the end I had them sit together on a blanket and drink bottled pops while I took the last pictures of their family time together. My hope is that it will be a fun memory for all of them, and pictures they will enjoy and cherish for a life time.

As we walked she talked about her baby girl, the one she is waiting for. She talked of her plans for herself and her little girl. I loved listening to her already protective mommy heart. I have known her since she was a small girl, running and giggling. Now here she is waiting for her little girl who will run and giggle. I can’t wait to meet her little one. Tiny feet, tiny fingers all put together in one perfect little package, and while we walk her tummy is working to grow just that. A sweet perfect little baby. Congratulations Angel!

Glorious Summer days are the best ones for an outdoor session. Little Miss Esmerelda was up from Salt Lake City, UT, for a visit, so we took advantage of a gorgeous day and went for a drive. We drove around Chewelah, Washington, looking for just the right spot to hop out and take pictures. Before we could find the perfect spot, Esmerelda decided it was nap time. Ut oh, babies aren’t very good at waking up happy from short naps. The session started out a little on the grumpy side, but once we went to the creek she became more lively. This session actually taught me something of great importance, and that is to look at the flower you are sniffing before sniffing it. I managed to snort a bug up my nose trying to demonstrate how to smell the flowers. EEEk I don’t like bugs and I especially don’t like them up my nose! I’m not sure there is a polite way to blow a bug back out of your nose. I’m pretty sure I didn’t care at that point. Once I was rid of the bug, it was back to picture taking time. This time with no flower sniffing. Any way enough about my my nose, look at these adorable images of little miss Esmerelda.

Oh my goodness there is just so much adorable babiness going on in this session. I have had the privilege of doing newborn sessions for all 3 of the McCoys little kiddos. It is so fun to finally have a girl session for them!! Little Jo is just absolutely adorable. To top off the fun it was a gorgeous day, so perfect for taking baby outside. My favorite is the very last picture of this post, all though as with every session they are all my favorites. Doesn’t she have the sweetest smile!

Little Mr Robbie’s session was on a beautiful summer day. The perfect time of year, the grass is green, the trees have leaves, flowers blooming and the sunshine warm on our skin. Nothing is more fun than following a toddler around a beautiful yard capturing the joy of living. I loved the cape his momma brought for the session. Robbie loved it too. I was also amazed at how sweet and gentle his dog was with him. The dog supervised the whole session, letting Robbie crawl all over him, giving dog kisses when ever possible. As I post this session I wish I were there right now enjoying the warm sunshine, listening to toddler giggles and smelling flowers.

Sweet little Megan Joy came to my home for a birthday session. As a normal two year old she didn’t really want to pose, but she did want to play. We had fun playing with balloons and looking out the sliding glass door. Her brother even helped her a bit. Megan’s favorite thing to do was hug her momma. She is such a sweetie.

I’m so proud of this guy! Ya he is my son. I can’t believe he is already a senior. Where does time go?
