Nicholas boy number 4 is almost here!  His brothers love to talk to him every day.  In fact they count to 3 and at the same time all say, “hello baby”.  They are going to be the “bestest” friend brothers.  It’s all ready fun to watch them interact and play together.  Congratulations Nicholas family!  I can’t wait to meet Mr Baby number 4.

Family is a beautiful thing.  A group of people who live together. Journeying through this amazing life.  Watching over each other. Growing together as they learn and discover.  Keeping watch over each other, encouraging each other and growing more and more in love as the days pass.  It’s a beautiful thing.

Everything I need is here and now. Looking how the colours dance around… All I need is love. – Animal Island, La La Love

Every time I look at these pictures and see the beautiful sunflowers the song by Animal Island, La La Love runs through my head.  I love this field.  I’m glad Samantha decided this was the place for her session.

These pictures taken with permission from owner.  Not a single sunflower was hurt in the making of this session.

The Wheatley Family’s Session/Deer Park, Washington/Deer Park Washington Photographer/Love and Honey Photography

The snow fell gently from the sky on Christmas Eve.  The quiet wooded lane leading to the house watched as the snow whispered to the ground.  There wasn’t a sound to be heard, until we came spilling out of the Wheatley’s home.  Their laughter floated through the trees.  Their joy spilled over on each other.  Mischief filled the moment, with snowballs flying through the air, funny hats and family jokes.

The Wheatley’s have recently moved to the Eastern side of Washington. This winter has greeted them with more snow than I think they have seen in awhile, and they are loving it. Tim and Pam are Pastor and wife at Lakeside Church of the Nazarene, at Deer Lake. They have 3 kids who are grown and married, and one granddaughter. They love spending time together as a family, and are soaking up every moment they can with their adorable granddaughter.

I have to say getting to know the family better was a lot of fun. They are full of fun and laughter and silly antics. It was a pleasure to take pictures of this beautiful family. My friend and fellow photographer Tammy Hansen took pictures on this day too. I’m sure she is having just as much fun as I did editing this family session. Thanks everyone for a fantastic day!

The Stone’s Family Session/Lifestyle Session/Deer Park, Washington Photographer/Love and Honey Photography

The Stone Family session is one of my favorite sessions yet.  This energetic family was ready for all of the fun I had planned, and some fun that just appeared like magic out of nowhere.   These are the kind of sessions I love to create.

Below are words from Sarah Stone, they carry on through the post, so be sure to read them all.

Rain, rain all week long. We were all a little skeptical that the weather was going to foil our plans. Not so! The rain broke just long enough to provide picture perfect lighting and the tall grass was tailor-made for running and rolling around in. Fallen trees and branches along with a stack of blankets added just what we needed to make the scene.

The spirit of our family is captured beautifully in these photos. Our silly side, our serious side, the lovey and the mischievous too. I tend to get caught up in the day to day and forget to just enjoy who we are. To just be. 2016-12-15_00032016-12-15_00042016-12-15_00052016-12-15_00062016-12-15_00072016-12-15_0008

It’s my hope that these photos hanging on our wall will serve as a reminder to be intentional. To pause and take in everything our family is made of. God’s beautiful gift. 2016-12-15_00092016-12-15_00102016-12-15_00112016-12-15_00122016-12-15_00132016-12-15_0014

Words cannot express how blessed I am getting to spend this life with my wonderfully awesome husband and our carefree, kind, smart, ornery, joyful…beautiful children.2016-12-15_00152016-12-15_00162016-12-15_00172016-12-15_00182016-12-15_00192016-12-15_00202016-12-15_00212016-12-15_00222016-12-15_00232016-12-15_00242016-12-15_00252016-12-15_0026

A Battle for Life/The Story of the Dixon Family/Lifestyle Photography/Love and Honey Photography/Deer Park Washington/SCID Survivor

This session was a very special session to me.  So special that I decided to have this strong mom, Rachel Dixon write it in her own words.  This is the Dixon family’s story, a battle in ways, a battle for healing for little Ezra, it continues down through the pictures…

“As we run through the woods, you can hear squeals of laughter and pirate growls, swords are clanging and flashes of color whoosh by. Captain Jake and Cubby join forces with Peter Pan to vanquish the notorious Captain Hook once and for all! Today we are celebrating…Celebrating the end of a long journey. A journey that we never thought we would have to take. A journey filled with heartache, sorrow, and pain. Yet a journey filled with hope, love, and strength.

If you had asked me two years ago where I saw life taking our family, I probably wouldn’t have answered you. img_8547

A little over two years ago our second son, Ezra, was born. Little did we know just how much our lives would change in the days, weeks, and months to come. When Ezra was three days old we received a phone call from the pediatrician saying that his newborn screening came back positive for SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). All we were told was that he needed more labs and that he essentially had what is more commonly known as the“Bubble Boy” disease. To put it simply, he was born without a complete immune system. After days of labs for our whole family, nights in the hospital, tears, prayers, anger, and a complete upheaval of our family, the diagnosis was confirmed. The doctors informed us that the only way to save our son would be a bone marrow transplant. 2016-11-30_0002

Judah was a perfect match and we started the process. Because Ezra was so young, they wanted to wait a few weeks before taking him to transplant. Judah went to live across state with grandparents, and Zach and I stayed with Ezra. As the days turned into weeks we waited…Waited for transplant, waited for the cure, waited for our lives to return to “normal”. 2016-11-30_00032016-11-30_0004

At 9 weeks old, Ezra received a bone marrow transplant from Judah. At the tender age of 2, Judah saved his baby brother’s life. 2016-11-30_0005

After undergoing chemotherapy, “cocktails” of different medications, gruesome side effects, and a visit from Seattle Seahawk’s Russell Wilson, we were finally discharged. However, our lives were far from normal. A feeding tube, 20+ medications, constant check ups, and blood transfusions, became our normal. I learned how to execute more medical “procedures” than I ever thought possible. 2016-11-30_00062016-11-30_0007

Through all of this, it was very hard to look to the future, to imagine what life down the road would look like. Because from day to day, we just didn’t know what would happen. There were too many variables in Ezra’s life to know with any certainty what would happen. 2016-11-30_00082016-11-30_0009

Although we went through such a harrowing time, we never lost sight of our faith, never lost our hope in God. Because, as I was recently reminded, “God doesn’t make mistakes.” He knew that our family would make it through this season with His strength, that we would have the endurance to run the race set before us. He knew we needed Ezra and that Ezra needed us. 2016-11-30_00102016-11-30_00112016-11-30_0012

Fast-forward 2 years…After months of clinic visits, tapering medications, feeding and physical therapy…Our family is finally able to look to the future, to dream again. Ezra has clinic once every 3 months, he is eating, running, talking, and most importantly, he has a fully functioning immune system. 2016-11-30_00132016-11-30_0014

Today, if you were to ask me where I see life taking our family, I would tell you: I don’t know for sure, but I know that no matter what life tries to throw at us, we will make it through, together. 2016-11-30_00152016-11-30_00162016-11-30_00172016-11-30_00182016-11-30_0019

For our family is a family of strength, a family filled with new life, a family filled with hope for the future.” 2016-11-30_0020

“Family isn’t an important thing.  It’s everything.”  – Michael J Fox

This was just another day, but then again it wasn’t.  In the wise words of Winnie the Pooh, “We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.” The path was golden covered in leaves that had floated to the ground, perfectly soft for cartwheels in the woods.  A pear tree stood alone in a clearing with just enough pears for two little girls to eat.  They pointed out the best ones while their Dad reached for them.  Being tall has advantages when there are pears to be had.  Some how the pears were still perfect, ready to be eaten.  A little further down the path an apple tree stood waiting to be noticed.  Giggles filled the crisp air when the girls decided to warm their hands on mom’s tummy.  Mom was quick to escape the tiny cold hands.  Luckily the day wasn’t cold, just crisp like an autumn day should be.  There were still trees to be climbed and adventures to be had, piggy back rides to give and cozy warm hugs to accept.  A perfectly pleasant afternoon, and by the end we had caught up on the time in between visits.  We also had tons of beautiful moments to choose from for their session.
