The Brennan Family/ Cheyenne Wyoming/ Family Photographer/ Love & Honey Photography

It is said that every picture tells a story.  This is the Brennan’s story.  Their story of this moment in time.  I’m so glad we could get together to photograph who they are right now.  The brothers are full of energy and curious about the world around them.  Sister is growing up.  She loves ballet and can’t wait for the new baby growing in Mommy’s tummy.  It won’t be long and she will be able to meet her new brother or sister.  It’s so exciting they are waiting until baby is born to know if it’s a boy or girl.  Mommy and Daddy have a beautiful family.  It was so fun to get to spend a few moments getting to know the Brennan family and recording their love.1C7A22491C7A22801C7A2300-Edit1C7A23521C7A23701C7A23901C7A24001C7A24191C7A25421C7A26201C7A26691C7A27071C7A27741C7A28411C7A29191C7A30551C7A30871C7A31141C7A3179-Edit

Derek & Maggie’s Session/ Loon Lake, Washington/ Washington Photographer/ Love & Honey Photography

Derek and Maggie are some of my favorite people.  I love how much fun they have together.  They are always laughing and smiling when I see them.  I’ve also seen them have a servants heart for their friends.  So, it’s always fun when I get to meet up with them and do a session.  They have a love that I enjoy capturing in photos.

A Family Day at the Park/Spokane Washington/Spokane Family Photographer/Love & Honey Photography

Bryn lives in Alaska, but loves to come down with the littles to visit her family.  This time Grandpa and Grandma and Bryn’s brother all met with us at the park for family pictures.  The littles loved playing and running.  Sissy is just beginning to walk, and brother showed us how fast he can run.  He also had a jumping contest with his uncle and played with Grandpa.  Grandma and sissy played, and mommy took turns with the two littles playing and exploring.  It was a happy little moment carved out in time.

Family is a beautiful thing to have, and the sweetness is even stronger when the visits are far between.

This Super Family came to my house for a session.  We started with poses in the box.  These super heroes loved it!  They had been practicing great poses at home, so they would be ready for their session.  So much costume goodness.  Later we took a hike to the Beaver Pond.  The boys had a blast.  There are so many fun things to explore at the Beaver Pond.  A fun day over, and I have to say, I think the Momma of this bunch is a real live Super Hero!

Clay & Brittany’s Wedding Day/Northeastern 18/Sterling Colorado Wedding/Love & Honey Photography

The clouds rolled in and rain fell from the skies.  Clay and Brittany’s out door wedding plans changed quickly.  I watched as both adjusted easily to the situation.  Their beautiful day rolled along like it was meant to be indoors.  The bride continued to smile sweetly and enjoy every moment of her day.  The groom and his groomsmen played a round of golf in the rain before coming in.  I greatly admire these two.  They rolled through the day with grace and smiles.  Accepting the changes of the day.  What a sweet way to begin a marriage. Just happy to be together.

A Battle for Life/The Story of the Dixon Family/Lifestyle Photography/Love and Honey Photography/Deer Park Washington/SCID Survivor

This session was a very special session to me.  So special that I decided to have this strong mom, Rachel Dixon write it in her own words.  This is the Dixon family’s story, a battle in ways, a battle for healing for little Ezra, it continues down through the pictures…

“As we run through the woods, you can hear squeals of laughter and pirate growls, swords are clanging and flashes of color whoosh by. Captain Jake and Cubby join forces with Peter Pan to vanquish the notorious Captain Hook once and for all! Today we are celebrating…Celebrating the end of a long journey. A journey that we never thought we would have to take. A journey filled with heartache, sorrow, and pain. Yet a journey filled with hope, love, and strength.

If you had asked me two years ago where I saw life taking our family, I probably wouldn’t have answered you. img_8547

A little over two years ago our second son, Ezra, was born. Little did we know just how much our lives would change in the days, weeks, and months to come. When Ezra was three days old we received a phone call from the pediatrician saying that his newborn screening came back positive for SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). All we were told was that he needed more labs and that he essentially had what is more commonly known as the“Bubble Boy” disease. To put it simply, he was born without a complete immune system. After days of labs for our whole family, nights in the hospital, tears, prayers, anger, and a complete upheaval of our family, the diagnosis was confirmed. The doctors informed us that the only way to save our son would be a bone marrow transplant. 2016-11-30_0002

Judah was a perfect match and we started the process. Because Ezra was so young, they wanted to wait a few weeks before taking him to transplant. Judah went to live across state with grandparents, and Zach and I stayed with Ezra. As the days turned into weeks we waited…Waited for transplant, waited for the cure, waited for our lives to return to “normal”. 2016-11-30_00032016-11-30_0004

At 9 weeks old, Ezra received a bone marrow transplant from Judah. At the tender age of 2, Judah saved his baby brother’s life. 2016-11-30_0005

After undergoing chemotherapy, “cocktails” of different medications, gruesome side effects, and a visit from Seattle Seahawk’s Russell Wilson, we were finally discharged. However, our lives were far from normal. A feeding tube, 20+ medications, constant check ups, and blood transfusions, became our normal. I learned how to execute more medical “procedures” than I ever thought possible. 2016-11-30_00062016-11-30_0007

Through all of this, it was very hard to look to the future, to imagine what life down the road would look like. Because from day to day, we just didn’t know what would happen. There were too many variables in Ezra’s life to know with any certainty what would happen. 2016-11-30_00082016-11-30_0009

Although we went through such a harrowing time, we never lost sight of our faith, never lost our hope in God. Because, as I was recently reminded, “God doesn’t make mistakes.” He knew that our family would make it through this season with His strength, that we would have the endurance to run the race set before us. He knew we needed Ezra and that Ezra needed us. 2016-11-30_00102016-11-30_00112016-11-30_0012

Fast-forward 2 years…After months of clinic visits, tapering medications, feeding and physical therapy…Our family is finally able to look to the future, to dream again. Ezra has clinic once every 3 months, he is eating, running, talking, and most importantly, he has a fully functioning immune system. 2016-11-30_00132016-11-30_0014

Today, if you were to ask me where I see life taking our family, I would tell you: I don’t know for sure, but I know that no matter what life tries to throw at us, we will make it through, together. 2016-11-30_00152016-11-30_00162016-11-30_00172016-11-30_00182016-11-30_0019

For our family is a family of strength, a family filled with new life, a family filled with hope for the future.” 2016-11-30_0020
