My girls love their horses and honestly the horses love them back. Fancy has been in the family since she was born on Grandpa Wayne’s property nearly 30 years ago. Hannah inherited her when she was ten and the two went on adventures all over the area where we live. Once Hannah and our neighbor Lorie went on a ride. Hannah was on bare back. As they went up a steep hill Hannah began to slide off of Fancy. Fancy stopped and waited for Hannah to climb back up. She has also helped Hannah on with a little nudge from her nose. She has been one of those irreplaceable horses. Mahala learned to ride on her and Maya has also. Maya has painted her “toe nails”. Trimmed her tail when I wasn’t watching and pretended she was a horse eating grass right underneath her. (Not something I let her do when I caught her) She has been the best horse a little girl could ask for. Champagne (Chammy) has come along recently as the girls have gotten more experienced at riding. She and the girls have gone on many adventures together. She is a sweet heart so long as her friend Fancy is with her. She throws such a fit if she has to leave her best friend that the girls have decided to always take Fancy along. Sometimes Fancy even goes without a rider. She just tags along for the ride. They are all best friends. Fancy, Chammy and their girls.

He loves her, she love him and they love little Ashton. On a beautiful evening in a gorgeous field we caught their hearts together. One of Rachael’s favorite songs puts it perfectly. In the words of Lee Brice, “Be best friends, tell the truth, and overuse I love you. Go to work, do your best, don’t outsmart your common sense. Never let your prayin’ knees get lazy, and love like crazy.”

This project is close to my heart. I was having a rough winter. Working through the feelings that come with loss, sickness, grief. I was feeling so low. I felt like God put on my heart to reach out to other women and to lift them up. To create a session where I could help them see how beautiful they are. How worthwhile they are. The song Beautiful, by Mercy Me, really fit with what I wanted to say and express. I reached out to my photography followers to ask if anyone would want to join me for this project. I had the perfect volunteers. Women who I love and respect and who I really enjoyed hanging out with for an evening of photography and gabbing and laughter. I love all of these ladies so much. Each one is making it through life in their own way. Each one has things they are excited for and looking forward to. Things they are working on. I hope you love this project to. I hope it speaks to your heart. You are beautiful, you are treasured, you are loved!

Selena, soon you will leave 8th grade behind. This session, this adventure we went on was to show who you are right now at this age. You love to draw, so we incorporated a lot of images of you drawing. By the way you are an amazing artist! You love the color black you told me, so I have made sure you have quite a few pictures in black and white also. You are quiet, but you have big thoughts. You are fiercely protective of the ones you love. You are strong, you are reliable, you are helpful, you are kind, there are so many beautiful things that make up you. My advice to you, continue being yourself. Don’t let the world tell you who you are, you tell the world who you are! The sky is the limit of things you can do, and who you will become as you journey into the next part of life. So stay true to you. You make me proud of you all ready. I love who you are. Just know you have been fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14) by God just perfectly and he loves you too. You are amazing, Selena, truly amazing.

Baby Kaylee is almost here, and Mommy and Daddy are barely containing their excitement. Their baby girl will soon be here to hold. They are so in love with her already. I love their book they will read to her, God Gave Us You. It can’t be said any better. What a blessing!

These two lovelies share the same birthday. One is one of my best friends, the other is my daughter. When I was pregnant with Mahala, Megan would always tell me, “the best present would be if you had her on my birthday”. My reply was always, “no way!”. That would mean I went passed my due date. Well guess what, I went passed my due date. Mahala was born exactly on Megan’s birthday, and ever since we have had as many birthday parties together as we can. One of my favorite memories was when I let the two of them go cake shopping together. We had decided on a delicious chocolate lover’s cake from Costco, but when they got there Mahala fell in love with a half sheet cake with a caterpillar on it. If I remember right Mahala told Megan the smile on the caterpillar made her think of God and how he loves us. Well you guessed it both cakes came home. Megan couldn’t resist Mahala’s cuteness. Cake overload is what pursued! They also got banned from cake shopping together. 🙂
This birthday marks the 12th anniversary of birthdays together. As always they are two of the cutest people I know. Each has a huge place in my heart, and I absolutely love this session of our families together on their birthday.
