Fancy & Champagne and their Girls/ Horses in Washington/The Nicholas Girls/Family Photographer/ Love & Honey Photography

My girls love their horses and honestly the horses love them back.  Fancy has been in the family since she was born on Grandpa Wayne’s property nearly 30 years ago.  Hannah inherited her when she was ten and the two went on adventures all over the area where we live.  Once Hannah and our neighbor Lorie went on a ride.  Hannah was on bare back.  As they went up a steep hill Hannah began to slide off of Fancy.  Fancy stopped and waited for Hannah to climb back up.  She has also helped Hannah on with a little nudge from her nose.  She has been one of those irreplaceable horses.  Mahala learned to ride on her and Maya has also.  Maya has painted her “toe nails”. Trimmed her tail when I wasn’t watching and pretended she was a horse eating grass right underneath her.  (Not something I let her do when I caught her) She has been the best horse a little girl could ask for.  Champagne (Chammy) has come along recently as the girls have gotten more experienced at riding.  She and the girls have gone on many adventures together.  She is a sweet heart so long as her friend Fancy is with her.  She throws such a fit if she has to leave her best friend that the girls have decided to always take Fancy along.  Sometimes Fancy even goes without a rider.  She just tags along for the ride.  They are all best friends.  Fancy, Chammy and their girls.Love & Honey Photography-4493Love & Honey Photography-4497Love & Honey Photography-4500Love & Honey Photography-4509Love & Honey Photography-4516Love & Honey Photography-4528Love & Honey Photography-4536Love & Honey Photography-4546Love & Honey Photography-4552Love & Honey Photography-4557Love & Honey Photography-4562Love & Honey Photography-4565Love & Honey Photography-4576Love & Honey Photography-4579Love & Honey Photography-4601Love & Honey Photography-4606Love & Honey Photography-4608Love & Honey Photography-4625Love & Honey Photography-4629Love & Honey Photography-4653Love & Honey Photography-4654Love & Honey Photography-4663Love & Honey Photography-4689Love & Honey Photography-4696Love & Honey Photography-4707Love & Honey Photography-4725Love & Honey Photography-4734Love & Honey Photography-4743Love & Honey Photography-4753Love & Honey Photography-4756Love & Honey Photography-4764Love & Honey Photography-4770Love & Honey Photography-4776Love & Honey Photography-4788Love & Honey Photography-4789Love & Honey Photography-4790Love & Honey Photography-4793Love & Honey Photography-4796Love & Honey Photography-4800Love & Honey Photography-4816Love & Honey Photography-4831Love & Honey Photography-4863Love & Honey Photography-4712

Michael & Rachael’s Family Session/Valley, Washington/ Family Photographer/ Love & Honey Photography

He loves her, she love him and they love little Ashton.  On a beautiful evening in a gorgeous field we caught their hearts together.  One of Rachael’s favorite songs puts it perfectly.  In the words of Lee Brice, “Be best friends, tell the truth, and overuse I love you.  Go to work, do your best, don’t outsmart your common sense.  Never let your prayin’ knees get lazy, and love like crazy.”

The Beautiful You Project/Love & Honey Photography/Valley, WA

This project is close to my heart.  I was having a rough winter.  Working through the feelings that come with loss, sickness, grief.  I was feeling so low.  I felt like God put on my heart to reach out to other women and to lift them up.  To create a session where I could help them see how beautiful they are.  How worthwhile they are.  The song Beautiful, by Mercy Me, really fit with what I wanted to say and express.  I reached out to my photography followers to ask if anyone would want to join me for this project.  I had the perfect volunteers.  Women who I love and respect and who I really enjoyed hanging out with for an evening of photography and gabbing and laughter.  I love all of these ladies so much.  Each one is making it through life in their own way.  Each one has things they are excited for and looking forward to.  Things they are working on.  I hope you love this project to.  I hope it speaks to your heart.  You are beautiful, you are treasured, you are loved!

Selena’s 8th Grade Graduation Session/Chewelah Washington/Love & Honey Photography/8th Grade Graduation

Selena, soon you will leave 8th grade behind.  This session, this adventure we went on was to show who you are right now at this age.  You love to draw, so we incorporated a lot of images of you drawing.  By the way you are an amazing artist!  You love the color black you told me, so I have made sure you have quite a few pictures in black and white also.  You are quiet, but you have big thoughts.  You are fiercely protective of the ones you love.  You are strong, you are reliable, you are helpful, you are kind, there are so many beautiful things that make up you.  My advice to you, continue being yourself.  Don’t let the world tell you who you are, you tell the world who you are!  The sky is the limit of things you can do, and who you will become as you journey into the next part of life.  So stay true to you.  You make me proud of you all ready.  I love who you are.    Just know you have been fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14) by God just perfectly and he loves you too. You are amazing, Selena, truly amazing.

The McCoy’s Maternity Session/Loon Lake Washington/Maternity Session/Love and Honey Photography

Baby Kaylee is almost here, and Mommy and Daddy are barely containing their excitement.  Their baby girl will soon be here to hold.  They are so in love with her already.  I love their book they will read to her, God Gave Us You.  It can’t be said any better.  What a blessing!

Happy Birthday 2016/Deer Park Washington Photographer/Family Photographer/Love and Honey Photography

These two lovelies share the same birthday.  One is one of my best friends, the other is my daughter.  When I was pregnant with Mahala, Megan would always tell me, “the best present would be if you had her on my birthday”.  My reply was always, “no way!”.  That would mean I went passed my due date.  Well guess what, I went passed my due date.  Mahala was born exactly on Megan’s birthday, and ever since we have had as many birthday parties together as we can.  One of my favorite memories was when I let the two of them go cake shopping together.  We had decided on a delicious chocolate lover’s cake from Costco, but when they got there Mahala fell in love with a half sheet cake with a caterpillar on it.  If I remember right Mahala told Megan the smile on the caterpillar made her think of God and how he loves us.  Well you guessed it both cakes came home.  Megan couldn’t resist Mahala’s cuteness.  Cake overload is what pursued!  They also got banned from cake shopping together. 🙂

This birthday marks the 12th anniversary of birthdays together.  As always they are two of the cutest people I know.  Each has a huge place in my heart, and I absolutely love this session of our families together on their birthday.

Carter’s 3 Month Session/Deer Park Washington Photographer/Baby Photographer/Love and Honey Photography

Oh my, oh my, oh my, Carter is just the cutest baby ever!  He was full of big grins this day.  I love the image where his mommy is kissing him and he is smiling big about it.  It’s such a sweet moment.  Carter is such a happy baby grinning from ear to ear no matter where I laid him down.  It was absolutely adorable when the kitten decided to join in.  He was curious about Carter and Carter was curious about him.  The kitten gently inspected his feet, since Carter kept wiggling them.  Carter wasn’t sure what was touching his toes back there.  Isn’t it adorable that they have the same color of hair.  I love this little session.  The whole thing makes me smile every time I look at it.

A Day with the Parkers at the Park/McEuen Park, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho/Spokane Family Photographer/Love and Honey Photography

The stars of the show for this day were 3 little girls.  The setting, McEuen Park, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and the moment a family getting together, and we were off.  We started right where we stepped into the park.  Three cousins excited to see each other, were ready to hug and twirl and run and laugh, and the rest of us just had to keep up with the moment.

I loved their smiles and delight as they played together.  There were some funny face moments too.  In my opinion it’s boring to always have to smile, and boring just isn’t that much fun.  My favorite is when everyone sticks their tongues out, it leads to some pretty good laughs.

Next we walked to a big field and out came the kites.  The kites were a great idea by mom, with the help of their parents each girl set up their new kite.  Then began the running, the twirling, the shouting, the laughing and even a couple of tears.  Yes tears, because this is life style after all, and sometimes in life the kite just doesn’t quite do what you want it to.

I loved watching this family have fun together.  The grown-ups running to help untangle a kite, giving out hugs where they were needed, and enjoying the moment with the girls.  My favorite was the race.  I love having a race in my sessions.  I have to say though, that Grandma surprised me here and was one of the fastest and most competitive.  It makes my heart happy to see everyone have fun even Grandma.

When we finished the session the girls ran off to play on the toys, then they were off to have lunch all together.  The session may end, but the moment carries on.

I’m thankful to know these happy hearts and to have had the opportunity to do this session.

The Tracy Tribe/Spokane Washington Family Photographer/Finch Arboretum/Love and Honey Photography

The Tracy’s, or as they fondly call themselves “The Tracy Tribe,” met me for a family session at Finch Arboretum.  A gorgeous park in Spokane Washington.  I think when we first started everyone was a bit worried about the session, especially mom.  Six kids can be a handful when you are trying to get them to all pose.  I remember the old days of sitting in the studio waiting in line while my own little ones began to fall apart at the seams.  By the time we started the pictures smiles were hard to get.  As photography changes and styles change I’m thankful for the new trend of life style photography.  Kids are happy and show their most natural real smiles when they are playing and free to run.  I love catching these moments.  “How about you guys race to the tree while I take pictures to see who was the fastest.”  It’s so fun to complete an entire session without the kids really ever realizing it was a session.

I have to say for this day the huge old tree was the hero of the day.  Everyone loved it.  Who can resist climbing such an amazing tree.  I can’t even imagine how many children have been in that tree over the hundreds of years it has been alive.  If it could tell stories I would be sure to sit and listen.

On this day they ran, they played, they hugged and I snapped away.  The kids each got to pick their own place to pose as well as the way they wanted to pose.  It was a fun way to get to know each one a little better.  At the end I had them sit together on a blanket and drink bottled pops while I took the last pictures of their family time together.  My hope is that it will be a fun memory for all of them, and pictures they will enjoy and cherish for a life time.
